My paintings are the most involved and psychological of my works.
The people depicted in my paintings are not models, but individuals from various parts of my life. Portrait Paintings is how I show who the person is, their personality. I allowed the underlying personality of each individual to emerge through composition and paint. Parts of them that most people they know might not be familiar with. In this sense, my paintings mirror fundamental aspects of myself. They are quiet, private, introspective, contemplative.
In my current paintings, the images are condensed with minimal background distractions, allowing the primary focus to be on the gesture itself. The focus of these paintings revolves around both hands and objects, masking or expressing subtle emotion. The objects serve as symbols from the past or present, leaving their interpretation up to the individual.
