My works on paper are my most intuitive. I feel that all of my figure drawing and observation is utilized in these works. I use different types of paper, including French and German paper I've collected through the years. I work directly in ink, so there is no room for mistakes. You can't erase.

I'm inspired by my travels. For me it's all connected: the act of traveling, searching for antique paper, and finally, incorporating the figure with the paper and its composition; experimenting with different inks. I want the piece to look as if it could have been executed 100 years ago. I like to show movement. Getting the figure from the paper. Antique pages from French ledgers and letters create a unique sense of fragility. The figures come out of the writing, and at the same time, feel as if they have always been there.
